A report discussing a proposal for a pilot study that takes account of research questions, methods, participants, procedures, time and organisational management. Pearson recommended assessment approach Oh, I can explain that! Young people didn’t behave like that in my day because their parents were much stricter. If you just gave them harsher punishment that would stop their bad behaviour. There should be longer prison sentences for people who carry knives. We are all armchair psychologists. We like to try to explain why people (and animals) behave as they do. Just listen to people’s conversations and you’ll hear someone trying to explain behaviour. Try to think of some of the questions people ask and the explanations they produce. Unit 2 Conducting psychological research 80 81
