About the authors

Mark Richards spent 18 years working in secondary schools. An English and Media Studies specialist, he was a Head of English and Media Studies in two schools.  Mark is Chief Examiner for a major awarding body and now works in a freelance capacity as a copywriter, trainer and consultant. He has written and delivered a variety of courses, training and professional development opportunities for teachers, teaching assistants and examiners, both face-to-face and online.

Jerry Slater is lead developer for a major awarding body’s new GCSE Media specification and Principal Examiner for Communication and Culture. He taught Media Studies from GCSE to degree level for over 25 years.  He is an Associate Lecturer, Open University.
